Mr. Alex Perera brings with him over 14 years of experience collectively in the Quantitative Finance sector and the Capital Markets sector. Previously he served as an Assistant Director at Moody’s Analytics Knowledge Services where he specializes in Risk Management, Data Analytics, Bank Regulatory Capital Management, Asset Management and Stress Testing. Well versed in both local and global financial markets, he entered the Capital Markets domain through his former role as a Senior Business Analyst at Millennium IT, a London Stock Exchange Group Company, where he focused on Global Trading Platforms, Market data Dissemination Systems and Market Surveillance Systems. Throughout his career he has also been involved in Software Development, specifically mastering trading and portfolio analytics technologies. Mr Perera holds a Master’s Degree in Quantitative Finance and Financial Engineering from the University of Manchester (UK) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Moratuwa. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and is also a Microsoft Certified Professional.
Aiyappan is the Head of Information Services at CIMB Bank Singapore, responsible for Transformation programs and IT Applications supporting Consumer, Wholesale, Commercial, Corporate, Islamic and Private Banking businesses. Prior to that, over a period of 15 years at ANZ bank, he led several technology delivery portfolios and programs across Transaction Banking, Retail banking and Enterprise Technologies. He was also a part of Citibank’s Technology Infrastructure division building a data centre for Asia Pacific and EMEA regions. Having worked with different businesses and customer segments across multiple geographies, Aiyappan continues to enjoy delivering business value through technology transformation and innovation.
Prior to joining NDB, Mr. Deepal Akuretiyagama served as Senior Vice President/Head of Operations at HSBC Philippines, Sri Lanka, Jalan and Indonesia. In addition he was attached to HSBC Hong Kong Regional Office and project managed one of the largest organizational effectiveness programmes of HSBC Group and also provided leadership to many other Group/Regional projects. He served as the Lead subject matter expert of the HSBC Regional Account Reconciliation Project for eighteen countries. He has been instrumental is designing the HSBC Global E-Statements Project. He has held the position of Chief Information Officer (CIO), HSBC, Sri Lanka & Maldives. He started his banking career at HNB in 1994 where his last posting was as the Manager – System Implementation prior to joining HSBC, in 1998. Mr. Akuretiyagama possesses an MSc in IT from Keele University, UK with a First Class, where he was adjudged the worldwide best student in 2002. Furthermore he possesses British Computer Society (BSC) and Australian Computer Society (ACS) qualifications. He is an Associate Member of Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). He is also a Six Sigma Green belt expert.
Teran Pasindu Dharmasiri is a digital, transaction banking / cash management specialist. He has held key positions in the Transaction Banking and Cash Management domains as well as in global Trade Services, Corporate Banking and in IT as well, covering both global and local banks such as: Standard Chartered (Colombo, Sri Lanka), Nations Trust Bank, Union Bank of Colombo. Currently, Teran Pasindu heading the Payments and Cash Management at the Hatton National Bank, Sri Lanka. In his previous stint at the Union Bank of Colombo, he founded the first cash management value proposition among Sri Lankan local banks and eventually launched a fully-fledged Payment and Cash management (PCM) channel led product proposition as the first local bank to have successfully rolled out an end to end PCM solution with a time to market of 08 months. His main focus is to combine retail digital banking space with wholesale banking – through digital led transaction banking eco system thus, enabling clients to enjoy end to end value chain regardless of the client segments.
Shanti Gnanapragasam is Vice President – Group Risk Management & Chief Risk Officer of NDB Bank PLC. She was also NDB’s Vice President – Shared Services, and Chief Credit Officer earlier. Previously at HNB, Shanti was the Chief Risk Officer, and prior to that was Head of Treasury & Markets. Shanti re-joined HNB in April 2010 after a previous stay of over nine years at the beginning of her career. She was Chief Dealer when she left HNB in 1993. Her Banking experience is extensive. In addition to Treasury Management her experience includes Treasury Systems evaluation and implementation, leading specific projects such as IFRS, providing training for bankers, auditors and accountants in Credit, Risk Management, Treasury-related technical subjects, Accounting, Leadership and Mentorship. Her higher education comprises a BSc (Honours) First Class in Zoology from the University of Madras and Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants UK as well as the Chartered Global Management Accountants (conferred). Shanti holds Dealer Certification from the ACI Financial Markets Association Paris, Omega (USA) certification as a Credit Risk Professional and the Professional Diploma in Integrated Risk Management in Financial Services from The Chartered Institute of Securities & Investment (UK). Shanti has also previously held the positions of Group Treasurer of Hayleys PLC (2007 to 2010), Deputy Head of Treasury at People’s Bank (2002 to 2007) and Director Treasury & Country Head of Global Markets of American Express Bank Ltd Sri Lanka (1993 to 2002).
Peter Leong has over 30 years of working experience in Banking & Finance, mainly in Shared Services, Financial Services, Oil&Gas and Manufacturing in a Regional/Global IT role, inclusive of Business Processes(BPI) & Continuous Improvements(CI), Digitisation, CyberSecurity, FinTech and Blockchain. He has been in Senior Management team since 2010 engaging Gartner, Pikom & CIO World for Technology solutions. Having strong People, Leadership and Team Management skills, Resources and Talent Development plus Relationship, Service Delivery and Account Management; Projects/Program, Tender/RFI/RFP, IT Roadmap & Architecture Strategy.
Rana is the Director, Innovation & Digital Services at Barclays. Prior to this, Rana was the Head of Innovation and Digital Financial Services Technology (Asia) for the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Rana has over 20 years of experience in banking and financial services in Australia, Asia and Africa.
Joe Cunningham is the Regional Risk Officer (RRO) for Visa in Asia Pacific, with the responsibility for championing security in the industry and maintaining the integrity of the payments ecosystem. Reporting to Visa’s Chief Enterprise Risk Officer, the RRO is also responsible for strategic risk management for the business, credit settlement risk, brand protection, fraud management and data security across Asia Pacific.
Seshika is a Senior Technical Lead at WSO2 and focuses on the applications of WSO2’s middleware platform in financial markets. Throughout her career, she has had extensive experience in providing technology for stock exchanges, regulators and investment banks from across the globe.

Paolo J. Baltao is a Senior Vice President of Union Bank of the Philippines and the Head of the Digital Transformation Group, the team spearheading Union Bank’s continuous product innovation using digital and mobile technologies and building its digital business utilizing digital channels and solutions. He also heads Global Filipino, the remittance arm of the bank. He has more than 20 years of experience in product management and business development.

Mr. Chin Wei Min is the Executive Director at the Malaysian Securities Commission (SC). He leads the Innovation and Digital Strategy division, and also oversees the data management, strategy and risk departments. Wei Min led some of the recent digital transformation initiatives at some of the FIs including digital blueprint for one of the largest brokers in ASEAN and advanced analytics capability design for one of the largest sovereign wealth fund in Asia.

Jasmine Ng is the Director of Investments and Special Project at NEM Malaysia, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of NEM io Foundation. NEM.io Foundation is a non-profit IT foundation that owns the NEM blockchain technology. They are pioneers of an open source & community based blockchain technology that is now used by enterprises, universities and governments utilizing advanced cryptography in executing transactions that spans across the internet. In Jasmine’s last assignment in the banking industry, she was head of Group Digital, Strategic Digital Alliances and Project Management Office for Maybank Group. Amongst her functions, she use to oversee the bank’s strategic digital alliances like AliPay and Samsung Pay, implementation of the bank’s digital projects and was instrumental in the launches of Maybank Pay, Samsung Pay and AliPay for the banking group.
CS Gill is a country manager for APAC and one of the pioneers who assisted in Infobip’s expansion to the far east. He brings with him 25 years of experience in Sales and Management. In the past 8 years’ with Infobip, he has opened the regional market to Infobip’s solutions and is currently focused on the enterprise market in Malaysia. Working with most of the local banks as well as other large enterprise he has carved a 40% market share in Malaysia for Infobip’s solutions.

Victor Navaranjan Antonypillai, is the Country Officer for Sri Lanka and a part of the country management team since June 2016. He has been with IFC for over 10 years and has experience working with the advisory and investment teams to strengthen business development and build relationships with multiple stakeholders including the government. His knowledge of the local market along with his strong relationship skills has helped him play a strong role in the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) Advisory team over the last few years. He led the FIG Advisory Services in Sri Lanka and Maldives. Prior to joining IFC, he worked as a teacher, journalist, lawyer and banker. Victor is an Attorney at Law and holds a Masters in Law specializing in International Trade.
Altona has more than 12 years of experience in Financial Services Technology, Consumer Banking and Strategy in the region. He co-founded The Open Vault at OCBC, the Fintech and Innovation arm of OCBC Group where he oversees the development of Fintech and Innovation including business unit engagement, acceleration programme, Fintech solution development and Innovation culture building for OCBC Group. He drives projects in areas of KYC, AML, Trade finance, Blockchain and Machine learning. Before that he led and delivered multiple projects from technology deployment to retail banking management and during his time as the Senior Program Manager in Group COO Office, he oversaw several bank-wide strategic projects. Today, Altona heads up New Digital Venture at Bank OCBC NISP to help the bank with their digitization effort. A coder by training with Bachelor of Computer Engineering and Masters in Knowledge Engineering from National University of Singapore, Altona is passionate about technology as an enabler and challenging status quo.
Ahmad Shukri has over 27 years of experience in banking and finance, focusing on areas of risk management and Islamic Finance. He is at present the Chief Risk Officer of Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Berhad. Prior to his current appointment, he was the Head of Risk Management , OCBC Al-Amin Bank Berhad. Among others Banks that he had also served are Al-Rajhi Bank Malaysia and Bank Muamalat Malaysia. Shukri holds a Master (Executive) in Islamic Banking and Finance from Asia E University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration majoring in Finance from Texas A&M University-Commerce, USA.
Mr. Mark McKenzie joined the faculty of The SEACEN Centre on June 1, 2016 as a Senior Financial Sector Specialist in the Financial Stability and Supervision & Payment and Settlement Systems (FSS/PSS) division. He is an accomplished professional in the field of financial regulation and supervision with over 25 years’ experience in developing countries and emerging markets. In 2006, he established Mark McKenzie Consulting, a boutique firm in Toronto, Canada, where he provided regulatory governance and compliance consulting services to selected financial institutions, regulatory agencies, and governments, globally. Previously, he was the Director of Policy Research and Statistics at the British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission. His experience also included working with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority. Mr. McKenzie frequently serve as an external financial sector technical assistance adviser on missions to countries in Africa, Eastern Europe and the Caribbean on behalf of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the European Union and the World Bank. Mark has researched and published numerous articles and papers on regulatory compliance and governance in major international journals and newsletters.He is a frequent speaker and moderator at major conferences and seminars on financial sector stability, financial sector supervision and AML/CFT compliance issues.
Mr Loo has almost 30 years of banking experience in IT, Finance, Operation, Sales and Support. He joined Standard Chartered Bank in 1992 and was involved in all their 3 generations of corporate electronic banking system requirements, developments and commercialization. He joined Maybank in 2010 and successfully grew its base from domestic to regional bank, increased its revenue, number of clients and market share significantly within a very short tenure. He was a committee member of Maybank Group Client Experience to drive up customer expectations and changing dynamics in service. Named as top 20 people in Cash Management in Asia by Finance Asia, he has been an invited speaker and panellist for public events and seminars organized by The Asian Banker, Asia Money, Bank Negara Malaysia, Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) and International Chamber of Commerce. Currently in his role with Hong Leong Bank, he focuses on customer-oriented segment solution with practical experience across Operations, Client Management, CX Transformation, Digital Payments, Implementation, Product and Sales. Sahil has more than 7 years of work experience in the Transaction Banking and Payments domain. Prior to EY, Sahil was a Senior Functional Analyst at Deutsche Bank working on the integration of banking systems with faster payments systems in India (UPI), Hong Kong (FPS) and Europe (SEPA). Shafique Dawood is a 16 year technology veteran who received his Bachelor of Computing from National University of Singapore and graduated magna cum laude before pursuing his Masters of Technology 2 years later in which he was awarded the Deans List. He is forward thinking and is a subject matter expert in National Security and Intelligence having worked with companies such as BAE Systems and many government agencies throughout Asia Pacific. Shafique is committed to educating the next generation of technologists in both the areas of National Security and Intelligence along with Digital Transformation in Banking. Emma Cabochan handles all legal documentation and non-litigation legal matters of the bank, including regulatory compliance related to data protection. Prior to joining Asia United Bank, she has worked in several reputable law firms in the Philippines, concentrating her practice in Project Finance, Banking and Corporate Law.
Mr. Delos Reyes has more than 21 years of work experience in engineering, general banking, investment banking, treasury, financial markets, marketing, information technology and project management, mostly with DBP. He is currently the head of the ICT Planning and Project Management but previously held positions in Property Appraisal, FX Trading, Product Development, Treasury Marketing, Fixed Income Trading and Capital Markets. Mr. delos Reyes is a graduate of University of the Philippines, with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He took his post graduate studies in Niigata, Japan at the International University of Japan with an Master of Arts in Economics where he received Certificates of Distinguished Service as the President of the Graduate Students Organization and as International Relations Councilor.
